Russian player Andrey Shatilov is our latest champion here at the GSOP Live Grand Final after he came out on top of a massive pre-flop coinflip against Zoltan Szabo.
In the final hand, Shatilov opened his button for 65,000 before slowly and methodically slipped out a 3-bet of 85,000 more. Shatilov then asked the dealer for a count of Szabo's stack and on receiving the news that he had about 1.5 million chips behind, he promptly 4-bet to xxx total.
Szabo announced that he was all-in and Shatilov merely shrugged and called with , which was actually in better shape than he could have imagined against .
The flop wasn't the most dramatic way to start the tournament's most crucial hand, but the on the turn certainly opened up a few possibilities for Szabo as it gave him both flush and straight draws.
Unfortunately for Szabo, the on the river was exclusively Shatilov's neighbourhood, and with that, the Russian player captured the GSOP Grand Final trophy, a bottle of champagne and an over-sized cheque for $144,190 - certainly an improvement on the $4,058 he bagged for a 21st place finish at the GSOP Malta two years ago!
Szabo, meanwhile, had to console himself with a runner-up prize of $93,240 and the knowledge that he'd been a central figure on undoubtedly one of the most competitive final tables in GSOP history. |

| Power Outage For Szolt |
| 26/4/2012 @ 22:10 by Duncan |
No sooner had we lost Topol a few hands hands ago when another shout of all-in and call from the final table saw Szolt Vizsnyiczai at risk in a pre-flop clash with Zoltan Szabo
With the cards on their backs, Vizsnyiczai's pocket sevens were in dire need of help against Szabo's pocket nines, but none was forthcoming when an uneventful board rolled out to keep the latter in front and send the former to join his friends on the rail $63,270 richer.
Given his heavy involvement at the Punta Cana final table, it should come as no surprise that Szabo will be taking an almost 2-to-1 chip lead into heads-up play against Andrey Shatilov, but both men still have plenty of play in their respective stacks. |

| Topol Toppled |
| 26/4/2012 @ 21:55 by Duncan |
We have just lost our sixth player of the day in the shape of Jeff Topol, who just busted in 4th place after losing an unusual pre-flop coinflip.
With action folding to him in the small blind, Topol opened for 50,000 before Zoltan Szabo took a look at his stack and announced that he was all-in. Topol snap-called and tabled , with Szabo still in surprisingly good shape with his lowly .
Board:
Szabo took down the pot with a pair of queens and sent Topol to collect his $49,950 payout from the cashier's desk. |

| Hooks Catch Gibson |
| 26/4/2012 @ 21:30 by Duncan |
As promised, here are the details on Nick Gibson's exit hand.
It seems that the Englishman opened to 40,000 and was raised by Zoltan Szabo, who made it 105,000 to play. Gibson called after some deliberation and subsequently moved all-in over the top of his opponent's 125,000 c-bet for 600,000 total on a flop.
Szabo made the call and Gibson tabled , but it was second best to the Hungarian's and stayed second best as the turn and river bricked out and .
With four players now remaining, the stacks are as follows:
Zoltan Szabo - 1,618,000
Andrey Shatilov - 1,608,000
Jeff Topol - 628,000
Zsolt Vizsnyiczai - 560,000 |

| No Gold For Gibson |
| 26/4/2012 @ 19:45 by Duncan |
We've just lost our fifth player here at the final table in Nick Gibson; and with him goes England's last chance of bagging the coveted GSOP Grand Final trophy.
Gibson had been extremely active following a double-up against Zoltan Szabo and had been stealing a lot of pots pre-flop with some well-timed 3-bets, but the wheels have now come off for the Brit and he exits the fray $38,630 richer in 5th place. Hand to follow shortly. |
