We are down to our final two tables at the GSOP Live Greece after the elimination of Rolandas Jankauskas in 19th place. With the new seating assignment now decided, it looks as though the two table captains will be Sergio Marti Aguilar on Table 1 with 720,000 and Stefan Genchev on Table 2, who is our overall chip leader on approximately 860,000. The complete seat draw is as follows:
Table 1:
Sergio Marti Aguilar 720,000
Ally Squire 680,000
Roman Herold 145,000
Jimmy Keys 130,000
Konstantinos Tsamakis 225,000
Anu Mikkola 220,000
Dimitrios Vlahos 150,000
Anti Tiainen 200,000

Stylianos Pantelakis 300,000
Nicholas De Groot 450,000

Aguilar Meeting De Groot Expectations
14/10/2011 @ by Duncan
While the breakneck pace of the early eliminations may have abated slightly, we're still hurtling towards the final table here at the GSOP Live Greece. Currently, only half of the Day 3 starting field remain in the hunt, with Tero Huttala and Alexis Tsaousidis the most recent names to hit the rail 3,253 richer. The blinds are now a punishing 4,000/8,000 with a 1,000 ante, meaning that not even the likes of Sergio Marti Aguilar - who we believe has just snatched the overall chip lead from Canada's Nicholas De Groot following the elimination of Tsaousidis - can't afford to rest on their laurels.

We said it probably wouldn't be cagey, but we had no idea things would play out like this.
Of the 45 players who started today, an incredible 14 have already been eliminated with a pre-flop all-in and a call keeping tournament director Marty Wilson on his toes seemingly other every hand.
The most recent spate of eliminations include early baths for Christos Mavroudis, Igor Ivashkiv, Alexey Dubrovkin and Alexander Burak, who all made the next pay-out jump and take home 2,870.

And We're Off...
14/10/2011 @ by Duncan
Good afternoon and welcome back to the GSOP Live Greece. 45 players remain in contention in Day 3 and their mission for the day is as straightforward as it will be difficult - make the final table.
The blinds are currently 2,500/5,000 with a 500 ante, putting the average stack at just over 30bb, and it is Sergio Marti Aguilar who currently leads the field with a massive 603,500 in chips.
Each player is already guaranteed a healthy return on their $1,500 buy-in, so play should be less cagey than it was yesterday evening as the short-stacks take their shot at moving up the leader board - with Alexey Dubrovkin in particular need of a spin-up as he returns with just over 3bb.

POP!
14/10/2011 @ by Duncan
That's the sound of the bubble bursting here at GSOP Live Greece.
Our unlucky bubble boy is Greek player Georgios Kapalas who got that sinking feeling after his re-shove over an initial raiser's opening bet was met behind by a further all-in raise from Sergio Marti Aquilar. The initial bettor let it go and Kapalas looked like he feared the worst as he turned over AQ. He was right to worry too, as Aquilar flipped over a dominating AK, which duly held up after making trips on a K-T-X-K-4 board.
With that crucial elimination, all of the remaining 45 players will take home at least 2,487 and it will be Aquilar who begins Day 3 as chip leader on a colossal 603,500. Behind him, other big stacks include Roman Herold on 477,000 and British hope James Keys on 409,500, but we'll update our Day 2 chip count as soon as we receive news from Marty and the team on the tournament floor.
See you all tomorrow from 2.00pm as action plays down from 45 runners to our GSOP Live final table. |
