| Bubble Looming |
| 13/10/2011 @ by Duncan |
It's all very tense here in Porto Carras as we are now precisely one table away from bursting the money bubble. Yes that's right - only 54 players from the starting field of 191 today remain and with the 45th place finisher receiving €2,487, we're seeing a clear shift in the dynamic of play.
The remaining players have seemingly split themselves off into two separate camps - survivors and speculators - and we're seeing contrasting approaches to this tricky stage of the tournament. The speculators like James Keys, George Tzimas and Roman Herald are doing their utmost to grab more chips as players tighten up, while the survivors are clinging on for dear life for the most part and hitting back with some well-timed re-shoves. We'll keep you posted on how the battle unfolds. |

| End Of The Road For Anders |
| 13/10/2011 @ by Duncan |
With the players on their dinner break, I'm sad to have to report back that I have just finished chowing down some roast beef with none other than Bet24.com Team Pro Denmark member Anders Jensen, who will not be returning to the tables when play resumes.
According to Anders, his stack began moving south after a couple of standard spots saw him turn up at showdown with strong but second-best hands, moving him into re-shoving territory where he pulled the trigger with AQ. Picking up a caller with pocket nines, Anders then lost the resulting coinflip and exited the tournament approximately 30 places shy of the money.
On a brighter note for Anders, it looks as though his girlfriend is currently the lady to catch in the €100 side event; so if things stay the way they are at least someone will be putting food on the Jensen family table this evening. Go girl, go! |

| Things Getting Serious In Sithonia |
| 13/10/2011 @ by Duncan |
The tension is getting palpable in the card room now. 45 players are certain to get paid, but with 79 of them still remaining with the blinds at 1,200/2,400 almost half of the field will be going home empty-handed.
With that in mind, it's hardly a surprise that the last level has seen raucous celebrations follow miracle two-outers, Greek curses screamed at the heavens and monster stacks fall like empires as our Day 2 field takes shape.
As we mentioned earlier, Anders Jensen is currently the only player still flying the Bet24 flag and things haven't been going too smoothly for him recently - at a glance his once mighty stack looks to have been cut down to around 30bb.
Nevertheless the Dane is still in the hunt and we'll bring you a more accurate chip count during the dinner break. |

| One Up, Two Down |
| 13/10/2011 @ by Duncan |
Good news and bad news from our Bet24 players. The bad news is that two of our quartet of Bet24 players (your humble blogger included) have hit the rail in the opening level after failing to spin their short stacks up to something more playable.
First to fall was Aron Olsson, who 4-bet all-in for 19,900 over the top of Stefan Genchev's 7,000 re-raise pre-flop holding but lost the subsequent race against the Bulgarian's as the board rolled out .
Needless to say I followed Aron out of the tournament shortly after when I 3-bet all-in for 14,700 out of the small blind against a mid-position openor with and was quickly called by . A flop made it interesting, but the sealed my fate on the river.
But enough of the doom and gloom, now for the good news - and unsurprisingly it involves Team Denmark Pro Anders Jensen. The Dane is now up to an impressive 111k after running a huge bluff with 6-2 off-suit on a board. Having moved all-in on the river, Anders' opponent could muster the call and the Bet24 player rubbed further salt into the wounds by showing his lowly pair of deuces as he dragged the pot. |
