High Stakes Player Alan Meltzer Passes Away

The poker world was saddened yesterday by the passing of music executive and recreational high stakes player Alan Meltzer, who died at his home.

The wealthy entrepreneur was well-loved within the poker community and made regular trips to Las Vegas to play in cash games, also appearing on High Stakes Poker for a brief stint in 2009 and playing a few memorable hands with Tom Dwan.

As such a prominent figure among the high stakes elite, it should come as little surprise that Meltzer passing has seen scores of poker pros take to Twitter to express their condolences, with David “Viffer” Peat among the first to tweet his support.

“Rest in peace Alan Meltzer. You made so many people’s lives more enjoyable and really made me a better person. You will be missed.” Peat tweeted, with fellow pro Christian Harder adding “Very sad. RIP” before re-tweeting Viffer’s sentiment.
