Poker can be a fickle game where you can be riding the crest of a wave one minute and cleaning silt from the back of your throat the next. Indeed, seeing another flop, turn or river when you’re drowning in a sea of defeat can be soul destroying even for the best players in the world and one player who knows that more than most is Shaun Deeb. The online star is regularly blazing the online felts, multi-tabling like a maniac almost every night of the week in search of cash, but more importantly tournament leader board points.
His reputation for excess has gained him notoriety amongst poker fans but his exploits have finally caught up with the young pro. He recently announced that he is finished with poker tournaments stating: “Yah, I’m burnt out. I hate them. I’m done with them. I’m gunna take rest of year off, hopefully, and go do something else. Yah, poker was good for a while but **** I hate what I’ve become." He has vowed that he will continue to play cash games but for now this tournament phenom is hanging up his avatar.
While one player is making a bolt for the rails another is embarking on a new phase in their poker career. Jude Ainsworth has recently been signed to Pokerstars and becomes the first Irishman to grace their illustrious roster. With Pokerstars UK and Ireland Poker Tour set to kick off in December the signing will hopefully attract a bevy of new players to take up the game in Ireland. Commenting on his recent sponsorship deal Ainsworth said: “I’m really looking forward to competing in the UKIPT and being part of such an exciting tour. Undoubtedly the event I’m looking forward to is the return to my hometown, Galway." Jude joins other Pokerstars’ pros including: Vicky Coren, Barry Greenstein and Daniel Negreanu. |
