Playground Poker Club To Host Laak & Esfandiari Open
The Playground Poker Club in Montreal, Canada, have announced that from 1-4 March they will be hosting a unique poker event named after popular poker pros Phil “The Unabomber” Laak and Antonio “The Magician” Esfandiari.
The Laak & Esfandiari Open will feature two events over the four day span, with a special $2,000 + $200 NLHE heads-up event with a best-of-three format being followed by a more budget-friendly $500 + $50 NLHE Deepstack tournament.
Both tournaments will feature two starting flights to ensure plenty of opportunity for action, though the heads-up event will be capped at a total of 32 runners due to the time constraints and seats will be issued purely on a first-come, first-served basis.
Of course, any poker event featuring these two players at the helm wouldn’t be complete if there wasn’t a bit of friendly rivalry involved and the week’s action will feature two “humiliation” prop bets involving either Laak or Esfandiari at the Club.
Though these forfeits have not yet been announced, the pair have revealed that whoever busts the earliest in the heads-up event will be humiliated by the other in front of the other players at the Playground Poker Club, while Day 1a and Day 1b players in the Deepstack event will represent team Laak and team Esfandiari respectively, with the losing team seeing their captain again facing a forfeit.
With all this potential entertainment on top of what should be an exciting few days of poker, this is one event players won’t want to miss and Playground Players Club including NHL Hall of Famer Guy Carbonneau, Erik Cajelais and Mike “Timex” McDonald are all also expected to be in attendance.
