World Poker Tour Announces First Half Of Season XI Schedule
With the WPT World Championships just two days away, the popular poker tour is already planning for life beyond the current season’s finale by announcing a spate of events that are all set to take place in the second half of this year.
Running from August-December this year, the first half of the Season XI schedule has further emphasised the tour’s commitment to being a truly global product by offering tournaments in three different continents on both sides of the Atlantic.
Action will start in Europe as the Merit Cyprus Classic from 4-9 August before the tour returns to America for the inaugural WPT Parx Open Poker Classic in Philadelphia. The regular American schedule that visits the WPT’s charter casinos like the Bellagio and the Bicycle will then be interspersed with further Euro trips to Paris, Malta, Copenhagen and Prague.
Additionally, from 26 November – 1 December, the tour will head to northern Africa for a new event – WPT Mazagan – which will take place in the Mazagan Beach and Golf Resort, Morocco, before the 2012 half of Season XI’s schedule culminates in the Doyle Brunson Five Diamond Poker Classic.
Running alongside the WPT’s regular tour schedule will be an expanded National Series roster which, like its bigger brother, will feature more trips to Europe than in the previous year and will also take in a range of new venues throughout America to compliment the biggest WPT season yet.
“World Poker Tour is committed to extending its global reach,” said Steve Heller, WPT CEO. “Not only will Season XI feature new stops in the US and abroad, but we are also widely expanding our Regional and National Series to deliver the WPT experience to as many players and fans as possible.”
