Sam Trickett Threatens To Lift The Lid On Scammers
UK poker pro Sam Trickett has seemingly taken note of Daniel Negreanu’s call to out “shady people” in the poker community after announcing on Twitter this week that he had money stolen from him by a well-known pro.
Although Trickett has not yet named the player in question, he has threatened to do so if the matter is not resolved satisfactorily soon and the poker community has of course been rife with speculation as to who the welcher could be.
In a tweet posted yesterday, Trickett revealed: “I had money stolen from me by a well-known poker pro, that I thought was my friend! If he don’t call me soon, I’m going to expose him 4 what he is.”
Publically outing a bad debtor is a fairly unusual occurrence in the poker community as borrowing and lending is a huge part of the live game and being tarnished with such a brush can make it very difficult to contact your daily business.
However, Negreanu has previously hit out at this ‘old-school’ philosophy and called for a change of attitude among poker players by saying: “If you have shady people in your community, you should speak up. I don’t like this ‘don’t snitch’ culture.”
Rest assured we’ll be keeping our eye on Trickett’s quest to recover his money and let you know if a name is revealed, but in the meantime the Nottingham-born pro has the small matter of the World Series and the $1m Big One For One Drop event to focus on.
