Will Jaffe wins WSOP $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em Event

After surviving 33 hours of play and beating a field of 3,220, Will Jaffe won his first World Series Of Poker gold bracelet and $500,075 in prize money.

Jaffe was able to keep a chip lead from the start, but his effort appeared doomed at the final hurdle when heads-up as his A-Q fell foul of Luis Campelo’s A-2 on an A-2-7-Q board. A miracle 2 on the river gave Campelo the full house and kept him alive – for a while longer.

However, his lucky hand would come back to haunt Campelo in the last act. Moving all-in on the button with K-3, Jaffe quickly called with A-2. The flop came Q-2-2 was met with cheers from Jaffe’s loyal rail, and the ace on the turn sealed it even before the 8 had fallen on the river.

It was Jaffe’s first gold bracelet, and the $500,000 1st prize wasn’t too bad a haul either.
