Vanessa Selbst in third after WSOP Main Event day 1b

Top professionals Vanessa Selbst and Daniel Negreanu feature in the top 10 chip stacks following the conclusion of the first two days of play at the World Series of Poker Main Event.

American Selbst finished on 168,350 chips, putting her top of the pile for day 1b and in third place overall in the prestigious $10,000 event. The WSOP bracelet holder received a major boost to her stack in the final hand of the day when she got it all in with pocket aces against her opponent’s kings, with an ace on the flop underlining her dominance in the hand and making the arrival of a king on the river redundant.

Another day 1b entrant, Canadian pro Negreanu finds himself ninth in the overall standings having finished the day on 140,075 chips. The four-time bracelet winner has already cashed in one World Series event this year and is in a good position to add to that ahead of day 2 on Tuesday.

The overall chip leader so far is day 1a entrant John Hoang with 180,000 chips, ahead of fellow opening day player James Schafer on 171,250.

Other notable players to reach day 2 include Jason Somerville (144,725 chips), Shaun Deeb (125,900), Sam Farha (118,500) Dan Harrington (83,750) and Barry Greenstein (60,825).

Day 1c takes place on Monday and is expected to boast the largest field thus far at the Main Event.
