Day 3 Of The World Series Of Poker Main Event About To Commence
With the final flight of Day 2 of the World Series of Poker Main Event now officially in the books, a combined field of around 1,780 players will continue their pursuit of the $8.5 million first prize and it is currently Gaelle Baumann who leads the way on a whopping 505,800 chips.
With the blinds currently at 600/1,200/a200 when play resumes later today, Baumann will begin the Main Event’s third flight with over 420 big blinds, putting her head and shoulders above a strong field of players who are nevertheless still very much in the hunt with their super deep stacks.
Among them are the familiar faces of Shaun Deeb (460,900), Vanessa Selbst (350,400), Jason Somerville (332,700), Eugene Katchalov (330,900) and Jake Cody (322,000) – who are all within the top 10% of the field – plus a myriad of other household poker names further down the chip counts.
With the top 666 players from the 6,598 total starting field all receiving at least $19,227 for their WSOP heroics, we won’t be playing down to the money in the tournament just yet, but with big stacks abound on Day 3, there’ll be plenty of opportunity for players to consolidate their position and pave the way for a deep run when play resumes at 12.00pm local time today.
