PokerStars Announces 2012 WCOOP Schedule
With their MicroMillions series currently in full swing, online poker company PokerStars are already looking ahead to the future and have announced the preliminary details of their forthcoming World Championship of Online Poker.
As the richest tournament series in online poker, last year’s WCOOP gave away over $47 million spread across 62 events to totally decimate the site’s prize pool guarantees of $30 million – and while the full details have not yet been finalised, this year’s series promises to be every bit as big.
The 2012 WCOOP will run from 2-23 September and will again feature 62 individual tournaments, starting with a $215 buy-in NLHE event on the opening day and culminating in a $5,200 NLHE Main Event on the final day of the series, which is set to guarantee a phenomenal $5 million prize pool.
In between those two events there will be plenty of other tournaments to get the blood racing, most notably a $10,300 NLHE High Roller event, a $10,300 NLHE Heads-Up championship, a $2,100 H.O.R.S.E. tournament and a $215 P/NLHE event that mimics the format of PokerStars’ Big Game.
With all that and more promised at this year’s edition of WCOOP, now the perfect time to start planning your satellite entry into some of the bigger events – who knows, in a few months time you could be joining an illustrious roll-call of main event winners that includes Carter King and Yevgeniy Timoshenko.
