Ran Azor Leads Stacked Final Table At WPT Cyprus

Former WPT World Championship runner-up Ran Azor is currently the man to catch at tour’s curtain-raiser event in Cyprus, but he faces stiff competition from reigning World Champion and PartyPoker sponsored pro Marvin Rettenmaier.

The Israeli leads the chasing pack by just over 400,000 in chips with a stack of 2.405 million, with Artur Voskanyan his closest competitor on 2.030 million and Rettemaier himself less than a small blind behind on 2.020 million in third place.

Rounding out the final table are Kiryl Radzivonau (1.865 million), Victor Paraschiv (1.115 million) and short-stack Joseph El Khoury on 435,000 – just under 15 big blinds – and all six competitors will be looking to seal the deal and bag the $287,784 prize.

Certainly, with both Rettenmaier and Azor having fine pedigree on the World Poker Tour the final table should be an entertaining clash of styles and should serve as a fitting finale for what has been an entertaining and engaging appetisers for Season XI.

Including re-entries, a total of 329 runners all featured at WPT Cyprus, generating a prize pool of over $1.2 million. The next player to bust at the final table will receive $52,590, which will certainly be life-changing money for a couple of players at the table – Rettenmaier and Azor, meanwhile, will have their eyes set on loftier goals when play resumes today.
