PokerStars Deals 85 Billionth Hand
As reported earlier in the month, online poker giants PokerStars.com were expected to deal their 85 billionth hand on Monday – and that moment did indeed arrive yesterday afternoon at a $0.02/$0.05 micro stakes table.
With play momentarily paused in preparation for the monumental hand, railbirds flocked to table “Josephina” as six players were all informed of their good fortune, but even then it took the lucky winners a few moments to work out what was happening.
When the realisation did finally dawn on the players, messages of “I <3 PS”, “TY POKERSTARS” and “PS is the best” quickly filled the chatbox, before all of the players in the hand decided that they would play for the win and the lion’s share of the promotion’s prize pool.
Unsurprisingly, all six players moved all-in pre-flop for a total of $50.23 – and with the board slowly rolling out 7d 3c Kh Jd 8h, it was the Kc 4c of Russia’s “som6873” which scooped the $36.35 main pot and $26,300 for winning the promotion, while the other players shared the other $66,700.
That meant that all five of the remaining players took home well over $10,000 for their troubles on another momentous day for the PokerStars micro stakes tables. The site’s next milestone will come at 90 billion hands and rest assured, they’ll have something equally special planned by then.
