Oliver ‘adonis112’ Busquet wins WCOOP High Roller Heads-Up
The joint highest buy-in event of PokerStars WCOOP took place this weekend with 64 players stumping up $10,300 for a shot at the High Roller Heads-Up bracelet. Unsurprisingly the field was stacked and it was Oliver Busquet who came out on top, pocketing $224,000. The American has long been regarded as one of the best heads-up players in the world, as he used to crush the $5,000 HU sit and gos. This cash is by far his single biggest online win to date and it was far from easy. On the way to winning the title Busquet had to get past Brian ‘$tinger 88’ Hastings in the round of 32, Betrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier in the elite eight – flopping a set of jacks to bust ElkY’s aces in a all-in pre pot.
The final saw him take on Canadian Helio TYF and Busquet needed a slice of luck on the final hand to take the title. All the chips flew in on a 5d-4d-10c flop, Busquet had pocket kings, Helio TYF 5c-4c, but Busquet hit running nines to make a superior two pair.
