Brian Townsend Prepares For Desert Trek
If you’ve been wondering where former high stakes online regular Brian Townsend has been over the past few months, wonder no more for his latest blog post has revealed what the American has been up to recently – and it’s surprising to say the least.
According to his online journal, Townsend is deep into a training programme for a planned seven-day, 156-mile race through the Sahara Desert and has been working on his fitness by running vast lengths of beach in Vancouver to recreate the conditions.
Townsend has been doing his circuit while wearing a 20-pound weight on his back as a comparative substitute to the provision pack that he will have to carry with him for the challenge proper, but according to his blog at 4deserts.com, the preparation is going well.
“As the race gets closer I find myself being more and more consumed by it,” Townsend explained. “Today I ran 20 miles in 3.5 hours. 7 miles were to Jericho beach in Vancouver and the remaining 13 were going up and down the same 3 mile stretch of soft sand beach over and over.”
To follow Townsend’s progress throughout his intensive training regime, be sure to check in with his blog for regular updates.
