Joel Nordkvist the highest of the High Rollers
Ten thousand Euros is a lot of beans (13,425 tins depending on where you shop), nonetheless 74 players put their hands in their pockets to play the EPT San Remo High Roller, ten of them even dipped back in and re-bought to create a total prize pool of €840,000.
Now just seven remain and top of the pile going to the final table is Joel Nordkvist, the Swede clearly loves the High Roller events and San Remo as he finished fourth in the €5,000 High Roller at the start of the festival.
The day started with 44 players remaining and as you’d expect for a tournament of this level, the field was stacked with some star studded names. Many such as Eugene Katchalov, Luca Pagano and Jonathan Duhamel would fall by the wayside before the money bubble was burst. Carlo Savinelli busted in 11th to ensure the 10 remaining players would get some gold, Mikalai Pobal, start of day chip-leader Brandon Barnes and Igor Yaroshevsky all cashed but crashed out before the day was done.
So six challengers to Joel Nordkvist remain, Benny Spindler, Keven Stammen, Joseph Cheong, Philipp Gruissem will all provide formidable opposition when the final table restarts at 1pm GMT.
