Greg Raymer Triples Up On The HPT
Former World Series of Poker Main Event champion Greg Raymer completed a Heartland Poker Tour hat-trick this week after he captured his third HPT title of the year with victory at Prarie Meadows Racetrack Casino in Iowa.
Raymer ultimately got the better of Chad Lawson heads-up to capture $72,089, with the win seeing him move to the top of the Player of the Year rankings and become the first player on the tour since Minnesota’s Jeremy Dresch to win three separate events.
Even more remarkably for Raymer is that his wins have all come in the space of three months, with victories in Albuquerque, New Mexico and St Louis, Missouri preceding his latest triumph and taking his total tour winnings to $265,937 and his lifetime tally to well over $7 million.
Clearly “Fossilman” is loving life on the HPT at the moment and his continued success has proved a huge boon in popularity for the tour, with fellow pro and HPT live stream commentator Bryan “Devo” Devonshire commenting after his victory that “this is what the HPT is all about.”
The next stop on the HPT will see the tour return to New Mexico at the end of the week as the Route 66 Casino again plays host to another exciting NLHE tournament where Raymer will be trying his utmost to do the unthinkable and make it four wins in 2012.
