Isaac Haxton Set To Make PokerStars Debut In All-Star Showdown
Newly-signed PokerStars pro Isaac Haxton will be celebrating his debut on the site by participating in a specially-arranged heads-up competition that will pit him against some of the toughest cash game players in the world.
The $100,000 buy-in event, which PokerStars have dubbed the “All-Star Showdown” will take place this Friday and run until Sunday 4 November, with eight participants facing off in a series of heads-up matches contested across four tables.
The tournament will be played in single elimination format, meaning that once a player has gone broke on each of the four tables they are no longer in the competition, with the winner progressing to the next round and on towards the title and $500,000 prize.
Given the name of the event, it’s hardly surprising to see the players that have already committed themselves to participate, with Haxton being joined by Phil “mrSweets28” Galfond, Alex “Sussie Smith” Roumeliotis, Alex “Kanu7” Millar, Benj “Sauce123” Sulsky and Tobias “KTPOKP” Kuder.
The remaining two entrants in the competition are yet to be confirmed by PokerStars, but rest assured they’ll have to be players of formidable pedigree if they are to stand a chance against the current line-up – and Haxton is relishing the prospect of facing them in the first All-Star Showdown.
“I’m excited to start my tenure with Team PokerStars with the chance to win a big title and a lot of money in my favourite form of poker,” Haxton said. “There are no titles or champions in heads-up games, just winners and losers. This tournament will change that by crowning the first All-Star Showdown champion.”
