WSOP Main Event Final table: the tweet sheet

We’ve waded through the best of the tweets from last nights WSOP Final Table so you don’t have to, warning contains spoilers!

Russell Thomas, who eventually finished fourth, hired Jason Somerville (@JasonSomerville) as his coach prior to the final table. In the first elimination of the night Thomas tank called with pocket queens after Steven Gee had bet every street with eights on a jack high board. Of the call Somerville said: “It'll be not just a highlight of the night, it'll be a highlight of both of our lives. amazing moment.” When Thomas busted in fourth place Somerville tweeted: “Extremely proud of how @RunGoodRussell played tonight. He has a bright career ahead.”

He wasn’t the only one tweeting though, Daniel Negreanu (@RealKidPoker) got in on the act, on the huge six-bet pot between Greg Merson and Andras Koroknai he said: “Koroknai with a massive blow up here. Merson 5 bet then he ships it all with KQ. Disaster play... Merson now has a massive chiplead with 5 players left. Koroknai lost patience, likely fed up with being bullied and went after the wrong pot.”

And perhaps the backing of Phil Ivey helped Greg Merson – he’s got the chip lead with three left – Ivey was in the Penn and Teller theatre and tweeted (@philivey) “My view at #WSOP tonight rooting for @gregy20723. #teamivey.”
