All Star showdown semis set
The line-up for the semi-finals of the PokerStars All Star Showdown was completed last night when Phil ‘mrsweets28’ Galfond defeated Ben ‘Ben86’ Tollerene, to set up a semi-final clash against Dan ‘w00ki3z’ Cates. They’ll face-off on Saturday for a place in the final, whilst Issac Haxton and Ben ‘Sauce123’ Sulsky will contest the other semi-final on Friday, with the final showdown on Sunday.
The match between Galfond and Tollerene lasted almost 16 hours and included an internet outage and a break where the two players, who are good friends, had a gym and food break together! After the match was over Galfond tweeted. “gg @Bttech86 (Tollerene). I think I was outplayed at the end but managed to run good in the big pots.”
The All Star Showdown is a contest between eight of the best high stakes players in the world, each player has put $100,000 on the line, the matches take place across four heads-up tables at the same time, blinds start at $50 - $100 and double to $100 - $200 after 3,000 hands. The match finishes only when one player has gone bust. The winner will take $550,000 with the runner-up taking $250,000.
